Berber carpet

Berber rugs are handwoven carpets made by the Berber people, who lived in North Africa and the Sahara during the Stone Age. Rugs come in traditional and modern designs and feature a variety of knot patterns, colors, and fabric constructions.

Berber is also known as a "loop-pile carpet." This is because the fibers are made up of short, thick loops woven back and forth, creating a distinctive, dense appearance. Berber is considered by some to be outdated, but Berber is considered one of the oldest and most durable types of carpet.

Nomadic tribes are constantly on the move and therefore need to be able to manage with the most basic necessities. This is why they designed the Berber carpet.

Berber rugs are hand-knotted wool carpets with a particularly deep pile, which allows nomads to use them as seating or beds. At the same time, like any traditional rug, Berber rugs can be folded or rolled, making them easy to transport. Another characteristic of Berber rugs is their simple design, which is usually devoid of decorative elements. This emphasizes functionality and the authentic natural materials used in their production.

Our Berber carpets are hand-knotted in India from our own sheep's wool and then undergo strict quality control in our warehouse in Hamburg.
