About Our Company
Our roots go back to the mid-20th century when our family business began trading authentic handmade carpets worldwide. In 1965, Mohammad Bagher Haghnegahdar, one of the co-founders of the German Carpet Shop, took over leadership and transformed the company into a global leader in the luxury carpet industry.

Our History and Expansion
Originally, we operated our business in a traditional marketplace in Persia to meet the growing demand for authentic handmade carpets. With the rise of Gabbeh carpets in the 1980s, German Carpet Shop was able to expand its production and offer a wide range of these characteristically colorful, minimalist carpets. We also began producing Kelim carpets, known for their flat-weave technique and detailed geometric patterns, which remain a popular choice for those seeking traditional yet versatile carpets for modern spaces.
For over 20 years, our branch in Hamburg, Germany has served as the European headquarters, providing our customers on the continent with fast and reliable service. We source and produce our handmade carpets in Nepal and India, using techniques passed down from generation to generation.
